Five Killed in Kikopey Crash as Nakuru–Naivasha Highway Safety Concerns Return

Five people have died following a road accident at Kikopey in Gilgil, Nakuru County, along the busy Nakuru–Naivasha highway. The Sunday-night crash has once again drawn national attention to the danger facing motorists, passengers and pedestrians using the corridor, which links Nairobi, Nakuru, the western region and neighbouring countries.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including whether speeding, unsafe overtaking, poor visibility or driver fatigue may have contributed to the loss of lives. Such investigations are important not only for establishing responsibility, but also for identifying road conditions and behavioural patterns that continue to make the route vulnerable to fatal crashes.
