Kenya Power Maintenance to Affect Nine Counties

The interruptions are expected to occur during the day as technicians carry out repairs, upgrades and other network-maintenance activities.

The power utility says planned outages are necessary to improve the reliability and safety of electricity infrastructure. However, such interruptions can disrupt daily activities for households, traders, schools, health facilities and small businesses that depend on electricity for operations.

For many businesses, especially salons, workshops, cybercafés, cold-storage outlets and small manufacturing enterprises, even a few hours without power can lead to lost income. Remote workers and students attending online classes may also be affected where there are no backup systems such as generators, solar power or uninterrupted power supplies.

Customers in the affected counties have been advised to check the official Kenya Power notice for specific locations and outage timings. Residents should also switch off sensitive appliances during the outage and avoid handling electrical installations until power is fully restored.

The maintenance exercise comes at a time when Kenyans continue to demand more reliable power supply, particularly as the economy becomes increasingly dependent on digital services, electronic payments and online business operations.
